SENSATION – A NEW LS7 ENGINE POWERED BY AUTOMOBILE FUEL!

On June 28, 2008, Vertical Aviation Technologies, Inc. introduced the General Motors LS7 V-8 engine as an optional alternative fuel powerplant.

With an all-aluminum block and 7-liter displacement, this engine develops 505 hp at 6,300 rpm.

However, in the Hummingbird 300LS helicopter, the LS7 engine operates only at 3,200 rpm, at which it develops only 300 hp.

The power rating of this power unit has been lowered to 280 hp.

The engine is designed to use automotive fuel with an octane rating of 92 or higher.

Fuel consumption is 49.2 l/h, which allows the Hummingbird 300LS helicopter to have a range of 700 km.
