FAMILY FOUR-SEAT AIRCRAFT AND THE RECORD HOLDER FOR THE LONGEST NONSTOP FLIGHT RANGE
Development: The RV-10 is a four-seat, single-engine, low-flying aircraft designed as a touring aircraft by Van’s Aircraft (USA). The RV-10, was first introduced with three engine configurations. The first was with the Continental IO-360ES engine, rated at 210 hp, and the other two variants were Lycoming I/O-540 with 235 and 260 hp, respectively. After interviewing the assemblers of these models, it was decided to keep the Lycoming engine. So when pilots talk about “efficiency,” they mean “speed.” And it’s not surprising, because the RV-10 has a speed of up to 340 km/hour.Development: The RV-10 is a four-seat, single-engine, low-flying aircraft designed as a touring aircraft by Van’s Aircraft (USA). Cabin. The cabin is accessed through upward opening “gull wing” doors. The width of the cabin is 123 cm, especially a lot of space is allocated for the feet of passengers in the rear seat. If necessary, the rear seats can be removed (dismantled), which will allow to carry more luggage and two crew members. The height of the cab allows people of taller stature (over 193 cm) to feel comfortable both on the front and rear seats.
Features. Fuel tanks, with a total capacity of 227 liters allow to overcome a distance of not less than 1500 km, and the presence of additional fuel tanks increases this distance to 2000 km.
The installed autopilot will make long flights easier for you. This airplane is not designed for aerobatics, yet it has excellent controllability when loaded to its maximum capacity. It also retains the short takeoff and landing characteristics. Sufficient power and flawless wing aerodynamics provided this airplane with excellent performance. The airplane demonstrates reliable operation even in hot weather. When fuel overheats at standstill – the pump solves cavitation issues.
The RV-10 has recently appeared in Ukraine, but it has already earned its place in the history of small aircraft. A Ukrainian pilot, a resident of Yevpatoria, Sergey Shevchuk crossed the Arctic Circle on a light single-engine airplane of his own design, the RV-10. He made the flight through Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Norway, and reached the northernmost point of continental Europe – Cape Nordkapp (Norway), thereby crossing the Arctic Circle in both directions. At the moment five RV series aircraft are flying in Ukraine and this is only the beginning. We are sure that it deserves a high reputation among pilots of this country and the whole world.
