Aircraft VAN’S RV-10
Incredible comfort, speed and capacity of a four-seater car.
FOUR REAL PLACES
Unlike many four-seaters, the RV-10 will allow you to fly with four real full adults on board – comfortably and with plenty of room to stretch out and relax.REALLY USEFUL LOAD
It’s a real hauler: load your family, up to 100 pounds of luggage, and a full load of fuel, all while maintaining the RV’s excellent lift and speed.OVERALL PERFORMANCE
Want to get there fast? Need to land or take off in a short time? The RV-10 has a cruising speed of about 200 mph, showing excellent short-range performance even at maximum gross weight.DESIGN
The RV-10 is the first four-seat airplane from Van’s Aircraft, Inc. and belongs to the most successful family of kit airplanes in history. For about forty years Van’s has supplied kit kits for assembling the RV-3, RV-4, RV-6, RV-7, RV-8, RV-9 and RV-12 model airplanes.
Aircraft builders around the world have appreciated the quality of Van’s components, having assembled and flown more than 7,200 units. The RV-10 design is typical of RV models. It is a riveted aluminum monocoque frame. This method has been basic in aircraft construction for six decades. It is unsurpassed in the combination of light weight, structural integrity, simplicity and affordability that duralumin construction offers. The airplane’s landing gear is light, simple and inexpensive, and given Van’s attention to detail, creates so little drag that the RV-10 easily outperforms several models with similar power and retractable landing gear.
Power is provided by a standard six-cylinder airplane power unit. The RV-10 is powered by a 260-hp Lycoming IO-540 fuel-injected engine, one of the most reliable internal combustion engines ever built.
FEATURES
The RV-10 interior accommodates four tall adults. Both front and rear seats are designed for people at least 193 cm tall, giving them ample legroom and headroom.
The tanks hold 227 liters of fuel – enough for a four-hour flight at a cruising speed of 323 km/h. The economy mode at 288 km/h will allow a flight of more than five hours.
The luggage compartment can hold 46 kg of luggage, loaded through the luggage door on the left side. If fewer than four travelers are on board, the rear seats can easily be retracted for additional luggage space.
DATA
By many standards, the RV-10 is a fairly fast aircraft.
The RV-10’s high cruising speed is due to its lightweight, aerodynamic, and fairly compact hull design. This allows not only achieving high cruising speed, but also being very economical at low speeds. The company’s pilots usually fly at 50-55% power, achieving terrific fuel economy. At 280 km/h, the RV-10 shows better fuel economy than most luxury cars and SUVs it flies over.
On the other hand, the RV-10’s huge wing area and large slotted flaps make it possible to land at almost any small airport, which saves significant time compared to “faster” planes that require large concrete airfields away from cities.
The RV has always had a reputation for excellent controllability. The RV-10 continues that tradition with four-seat aircraft. On the other hand, the RV-10’s huge wing area and large slotted flaps make it possible to land at almost any small airport, which saves significant time compared to “faster” planes that require large concrete airfields away from cities. The RV has always had a reputation for excellent controllability. This is not an aerial acrobatics tool, so oversensitivity is not its strong suit. It is a very docile airplane, while at the same time giving a stable and easy flight. The pilot is under little strain, as the aircraft responds quickly and positively to the pilot. It has no “nervousness” and does not require constant attention to maintain direction or altitude. A long flight in the RV-10 can be truly relaxing.
