Presentation of the new IO-540 engine

We are proud to announce another engine option. Titan Aircraft Engines has developed a new IO-540 direct injection engine specifically for the Hummingbird. Comprehensive performance, cooling system, and torsional/vibration testing were conducted throughout the year.

Being mounted at 60 degrees, the engine has been modified and equipped with a dry crankcase lubrication system. It has no crankshaft counterweights. The gross weight of the new engine is 36.3 kg lower than the previous Lycoming VO-435 propulsion system. Power of the IO-540 engine is 300 hp, while its nominal value is reduced to 280 hp. The IO-540 power unit provides the use of fuel with an octane number from 93 and up to 100LL.

Standard equipment of the engine includes fuel injection system (by Airflow Performance), lightweight alternator (by Plane Power), twin magneto with starter vibrator, fuel pumps driven by engine and electric motor, fuel filter (by Andair). The Hummingbird 300L helicopter is equipped with the same centrifugal clutch and freewheel clutch as its predecessors.
